Oregon builds first "Solar Highway"!!

Sometime last year we turned our noses up at the idea of a concept that would turn highways into wind farms. We are now looking at the birth of that idea folks! The ambitious "Solar Highway" demonstration project is currently underway and it is looking like it.. may be a success despite some naysayers doubts. The project will be deployed at the Interstate 5 & Interstate 205 interchange in Tualatin, this is where it will take over 8,000 square feet of real estate and produce a mindblowing 112,000 kilowatt hours per year! Wowsers! Estimated costs for this overwhelming 104-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system is roughly $1.3 million! Yowzers (arent we in some sort of econ crisis?) lol. However, even with the slump this project is gaining steam and should be complete and operational by the end of this year!! Anything to save the earth :)
